Proactive Environmental Leadership


Our active memberships in the industry’s major trade associations include the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and Global Seafood Alliance (GSA). To promote responsible industry stewardship, we partner with suppliers that implement and maintain BAP standards, as well as other globally accepted sustainable seafood standards. We also have our MSC chain of custody to maintain the integrity of our entire supply chain.

 

As leaders in environmental stewardship, Eastern Fish Company is committed to supporting best practices within our supply chain so that we can continue to source high quality products while addressing environmental and social challenges in the seafood industry.

Eastern Fish founder Bill Bloom and current COO/President Eric Bloom have each served as Chairman of the NFI, and Eric currently serves on the Board of Directors of the GSA.

As part of our commitment to the health of our oceans, we also participate in the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) Mexican Shrimp and the Asian Farmed Shrimp Supply Chain Roundtable to support environmental improvement in these fisheries and farms. Over the past decade, SFP has been deeply involved in several global fishery and aquaculture improvement projects, some of which involve fisheries that intend to pursue Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification. These fisheries, and a few others that have already been certified, have implemented voluntary measures to meet certification standards (e.g., improved landings data collection, compliance monitoring).

 

Furthermore, we are committed to habitat protection as part of our obligation to environmental leadership. At Eastern Fish, our pledge to protecting the undersea environment goes beyond simply obeying all of the environmental laws and regulations.
