Quality Control

Controlling Quality and Safety

We strongly support the ongoing efforts of the Better Seafood Bureau, which works alongside the FDA to further establish economic integrity within the seafood industry. While the FDA’s primary mission is product safety, the Better Seafood Bureau works to address issues such as short weights and counts and maintaining accurate country of origin information. It is our mission at Eastern Fish to focus on food safety, and as a result, we are proud of earning our International Featured Standards (IFS) Broker Chain Of Custody certificate. IFS Chain of Custody certification, which falls under the GFSI scheme, is an extra step we take to guarantee the supply of premium quality products.

International governments and associations require the seafood industry to maintain certain product quality standards. Because food safety is Eastern Fish’s number one priority, our internal standards are even more stringent. We insist:

  • An Eastern Fish employee or certified inspector – utilizing our quality control methods – monitors every shipment to ensure our product specifications are followed.
  • All Eastern Fish product is inspected both on-line and prior to export, and inspection reports are available for all exported shipments.
  • Every plant must meet our strict quality control protocols and procedures before it can become an Eastern Fish partner.
  • All plants are HACCP compliant and audited on a yearly basis.
  • All suppliers are registered with the FDA.
  • All freshly harvested product is tested at farm level for antibiotics prior to harvesting and then re-tested at the plant.
  • Antibiotics are not used at any stage of the farming or supply process.
  • Finished product from China is tested at plant level and by government inspectors prior to release for export.
  • No matter where on the planet our product comes from, it must meet the same strict standards and specifications.
  • All product is fully traceable from farm to packaging.

Let us earn your trust.
