Hearty Seafood Chowder

Total Time: 40 minutes


  • 3 tablespoons plus ¼ cup butter divided
  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 lb Just Fish cod fillets cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 lb Sail brand raw 21/25 peeled, deveined, tail off shrimp
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup lump crab meat drained
  • 4 oz diced pimientos drained
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika



  1. Over medium heat in a 6 quart stockpot heat 3 tablespoons of butter then add mushrooms, cook and stir until tender, 8-10 minutes. Then remove from pot
  2. Heat remaining butter over medium heat in the same pot then stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in cream and milk, bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cook and stir until thickened about 2-3 minutes
  3. Stir in cod, shrimp, peas, and sautéed mushrooms cooking until fish just begins to flake easily and shrimp turn pink, about 5-7 minutes. Add cheese, crab and pimientos stirring gently until cheese is melted.  Sprinkle with paprika then serve
